Welcome! The Arlington Latin Mass Society is dedicated to serving as a resource for the faithful of the Diocese of Arlington and surrounding areas devoted to the Traditional Latin Mass. Everyone is invited to come and join us in this ancient form of Catholic liturgy.
Habemus Papam
On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the conclave elected Robert Cardinal Prevost pope. His Holiness has taken the name Leo XIV, and is the first American to reign as Roman Pontiff.
A prayer for our newly elected Holy Father follows. May God grant him strength, wisdom, and holiness, that he may be a good and worthy shepherd.
℣. Orémus pro Pontífice nostro Leóne.
℟. Dóminus consérvet eum, et vivíficet eum, et beátum fáciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in ánimam inimicórum ejus.
Pater noster. Ave María.
Orémus. Deus, ómnium fidélium pastor et rector, fámulum tuum Leónem, quem pastórem Ecclésiæ tuæ præésse voluísti, propítius réspice: da ei, quǽsumus, verbo et exémplo, quibus præest, profícere: ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi crédito, pervéniat sempitérnam. Per Christum Dóminum nostrum. Amen.
℣. Let us pray for Leo, our Pope.
℟. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
Our Father. Hail Mary.
Let us pray. O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant Leo, whom Thou hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by his word and example, he may edify those over whom he hath charge, so that together with the flock committed to him, may he attain everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
